		2006 Australia-Wide spring Pairs competition

Players at ECBC (both members and visitors) again have the opportunity to be part of something really special on Monday 30/10/06! The Australia-Wide Spring Pairs competition has a rich history going back over 30 years and this year more than 4000 players from all around the country will come together in this spirit of friendly competition. The total prize money is over $3,000. with the top 52 players (26 pairs) nationwide each receiving a subscription to Australian Bridge magazine and the top 10 players also receiving a copy of the book "Bridge Master, The best of Edgar Kaplan" (pictured) AS WELL AS a personalized Australia Wide pen! Cost to each player will be an additional $4-00 on top of the normal playing fee. For this small sum each player receives a souvenir booklet of the event.  This booklet shows all hands and Paul Marston gives fully his thoughts for best bidding and play. Be there for the fun! And remember, we are using Bridgemates so you will know the local results immediately at the end of play! 20th annual Australia-Wide                     novice Pairs                    Competition                                                             Monday 25/7/2005 Since 1985 the Novice Pairs has been the national event for players ranked Local Master one star and below. It is held in clubs all around Australia in the week of 25-31 July and ECBC is participating again this year on Monday 25th. It is a special occasion for newer players as they take their place alongside more than 1,000 other participants. And every player receives an instructive booklet from what I consider one of the best writers of books for newer players, Paul Marston. Players who are ranked above Local Master (with one star) may still play at normal cost in a separate section. These players are ineligible for prizes and the the booklet is not included.   Prizes More than $2,000 worth of prizes will go to the leading players. The first five pairs (10 players) will receive a copy of the Audrey Grant edition of Bridge Master (worth $129) or two year's sub to Australian Bridge magazine. Bridge Master is a Windows based CD for new players to improve their declarer play. It makes a superb way to learn because it presents pre-set hands where you have to play correctly to succeed. There is an instructive commentary to help as well. The next 30 players (15 pairs) will receive a year's subscription to Australian Bridge magazine. Once again the world champion computer game JACK will be playing the hands, so you will have the opportunity to see if you can outplay the computer by comparing your results and play to the hands which will be loaded onto our website  on Monday 1sy August (have to wait for everyone nationally to finish!) Play starts at 7.30pm on Monday 25/7/05. Special Offer Participants can buy Bridge Master for just $99 (that is $30 off!) This offer ends on 20th August..

Australia-Wide Spring Pairs 25/10/2004

Players at ECBC (both members and visitors) again have the opportunity to be part of something really special on Monday 25/10/04!

The Australia-Wide Spring Pairs competition has a rich history going back 30 years and this year more than 4000 players from all around the country will come together in this spirit of friendly competition.

The total prize money is $3,156. with the top 10 players nationwide each receiving a $100 gift voucher. These vouchers can be used to purchase any of Paul Marston's books, the computer program "Bridge Master", the computer game "Jack" or a subscription to Australian Bridge magazine.

The next 44 players will each win a subscription to Australian Bridge magazine valued at $49-00.

Cost to each player will be an additional $4-00 on top of the normal playing fee. For this small sum each player receives a souvenir booklet of the event.  This booklet shows all hands and Paul Marston reports fully (with all bids and play) on a match between Sartaj Hans and Tony Nunn (from the current National Team) against "Jack", the wily world champion computer game. This match is the exact same Australia-Wide Spring Pairs event which players at ECBC will be playing
on the night! See you there!

Australia-Wide Autumn Pairs 31/5/2004

The Australia-Wide Autumn Pairs is held every year in the last week of May. It is one of two great opportunities for club players to take part in a national event without leaving the familiar surroundings of their club and for this reason the club is entering again this year.

The cost to each player is an additional $4-00 on top of their normal fees. Each entrant receives a souvenir booklet from one of our favorite local authors (Paul Marston)  describing the recommended bidding and play of each deal. Once again the world champion computer game JACK will be playing the hands, so you will have the opportunity to see if you can outplay the computer!

The top 50 players (Australia Wide) will receive prizes worth a total of $3,110 and the top 10 players nationwide will each win a $115 gift voucher. This can be used to purchase any of Paul Marston's books, the computer program Bridge Master, the computer game Jack, or a subscription to Australian Bridge magazine. Finally (whew!) the next 40 players will each win a subscription to AB, valued at $49!!

As a special offer, any contestant in this event who purchases Bridge Master ($115) from Australian Bridge will receive a FREE one year subscription to AB (a $49 discount! - Offer ends Friday 18/6/04)
